Scheduling Your Senior Session

Hey Guys! In today's blog I am going to get real with you about scheduling a senior session and all that it entails. Senior pictures are something that you and your family will look back on for the rest of your lives so it is very important to me that I capture you in your best light! You have fought hard to get to this moment through twelve long years of school (For you college seniors, even more) so it is your right to have your pictures exactly how you want them. Lets dive in!

First... let's think about what makes you UNIQUE. Do you ride horses? Are you in sports or extracurricular activities? Do you play an instrument? Everyone has something that makes them different and that is what you should incorporate in your senior session. These pictures are about showcasing you and all your accomplishments, so before your session, lets sit down, grab a coffee, and talk about you!

Now on to the actual session... It's all about LOCATION! Finding a location that fits you is very important to me as a photographer. The more you love your location, the more you will love your images. That being said, one of the most important things to remember when choosing a location is what time of year your session falls in. For example, if you are dying to have your pictures taken in an orchard, don't schedule your session in the dead of winter because you will end with a bunch of dead trees as your background. Instead, schedule a summer session, when the leaves are green, or a fall session, when they are changing colors. My favorite seasons are summer and fall, so I am always ready to squeeze in as many sessions as possible during that time period!

Second, take your time choosing your outfits, and have many options! There are many photographers who charge by the outfit change, I am NOT one of them. Bring as many outfits as you like because each will tell a different story and show a different side of you. Wear colors that complement you but also don't be afraid to make BOLD choices! Feel confident in what you wear and the love for your photos will follow.

Finally, remember to schedule your session with enough time in advance. Photographers have different preferences but personally, two weeks is usually enough time for me. This time period allows me to communicate with you about your vision for your photos.

Below are some photos of one of my 2018 senior models. Each of these photos were taken at a different time during the year. Scroll down check them out! I hoped this helped out a few of you future seniors. I look forward to meeting you and making your dreams and ideas come to life!
